Hi, I have a 1988 Johnson 70Hp and today the trim stopped working. It clicks and sounds like it was trying to do something, but will not go up or down. Any suggestions would be very welcome!!!:(

Welcome to iboats! First off if your solenoids are clicking they are working, so you can rule that out. First check your resevoir level to ensure it is topped off. Make sure that the manual release valve is closed and tight. Check the inline fuses at the solenoid to ensure they arent blown. Put 12 volts to the starter motor, doesnt matter up or down, to see if it works, if it doesnt move under 12 volts, the motor is shot. Let me know what you find.

Couldn't he have a leaky manual release valve? That's a heck of a lot cheaper than a whole new unit. Just a suggestion. Recently had the exact problem on a '94 Intruder 150. It was the Manual release valve, and not the unit itself. Whew .... were we happy! $50 versus $1200. :)
