My 4.3 has an electrical fuel pump and a mechanical pump. It was cutting out so I checked the fuel filter, then the electrical fuel pump. Both were fine so I checked the mechanical fuel pump and it didn't pump. I removed the mechanical pump and there was no where mark on the pump lever so I looked in the block cavity to check the pump rod. There was no rod and no hole for a rod just an empty cavity.

Anyone have a clue???:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

If it has an electric pump then the mechanical pump should be removed and the hole blocked off. Were the lines and everything hooked up to it?

Re: OMC 4.3 V6 fuel pump question

I have a near situation. I am doing and engine swap from a truck due to cracked block. The Mech pump has the monting pad on the bock but the hole / pushrod bore is solid and not drilled. Can this be drilled with the engine in Longblock situe or does it need to be taken down to the block?

Thanks

:cool:
