I know someone on in this forum will have an answer to these problems on my 89 Merc 60hp.

1. The high temp alarm allways goes off , but only at full throttle. I have changed the impeller and there is plently of water coming out of the tell tale. I have checked that the sensor and its wire were not loose but it still goes off. Is there any way to test that the sensor is working properly or should I be checking something else.

2. I allways smell raw gas from the engine and can see it drip from under the cowling near the tiller handle. I have checked all the gas lines and even removed the air box to look for puddling while the engine is running but did not find the cause. The only area is see any is on the bottom of both carbs where the throttle shaft passes through them. Any thoughts.

Your help is appreciated.

Cant help with the temperature alarm issue, but as for the fuel leak, inspect the rubber hose between the 2 carbs, my 1988 60 hp was leaking there. I guess the temp alarm was added in 1989??? my 1988 doesnt have one.
Is it possible that you are hearing the low oil warning?

My 88 60hp has a warning temp. It is in the water jacket near the top plug.
I would check the impeller and maybe replace the water pump. I had to replace the whole pump to make my temp problems go away..........Jerry

ps........mine only went off at high rpm also.

Well I stand corrected! Im going to have a look at mine when I go to the lake this weekend. Where is the actual buzzer, on the motor or in the boat?
