I run straight 40 weight oil. The absolute best thing about Volvo's is no stinky gear lube. ;)

Straight 30Wt was in a previous Service bulletin, or what ever is used in the engine (providing it's what Volvo recommends for the enigne.)
Don't just "Top It Off", change it. It should be done yearly anyway.
If it's low, WHY????? any oil in the bellows?????

Re: Quick Question, what kind oil in outdrive

Thanks for the info guys, are you saying regular automotive motor oil is what I should use? I thought there is a special oil for marine outdrives. Just want to make sure I do not screw up anything.

Also could not check the level because I could not lower the OD all the way, it hits ground when on trailer. How do you do it?

I did take her out on Big Bear Lake yesterday and she run amazingly strong, cruising 30MPH at 4000RPM, 35MPH at WOT. The only problem I still have is little hesitation at around 1200 rpms, sometimes she sputters and dies if I do not move the level fast enough past this point. I am guessing some throttle linkage problem, since it only occurs at this one point of acceleration.

Something to put on my list to do in winter.

Thanks

Yes, 30W motor oil, or what Volvo recommends for that engine.

You thought wrong in this case.

Lower the front of the trailer, and/or raise the back of the trailer.

Go to the link below, and download yourself an owners manual for free.
