Alright, so I've replaced my U-joints, Gimbal Bearing and all the bellows. Everything went fine. The drive is still whining like crazy, especially at higher speeds. Is there a bearing in the top half of the drive that I can check and replace if needed without special tools? It's my last resort before buying a whole upper unit...

There are FOUR bearings in the upper. But they take special tools to do correctly.
That doesn't stop a lot of people though.

A good press, pullers, dial indicator, micrometers, ect. are the usual tools. Does anyone have a good single-source for this type of equipment? I would assume some of the tools to be marine specific.

It takes more that that to do the job. You MUST have the special tools to set the gear heights. There are no other ways to do it.

Those are good words Don. Even after reading a few manuels cover to cover, I personally would not tackle that job. One, I don't have the experience, two, I don't have the tools. I was just curious where such equipment could be found. A jobbers catalogue like that would provide a few hours of great reading.
