Outdrive out - How to prep for long term storage?

My engine is out and the outdrive has been sitting in the lawn for a month now. It's an alpha one that needs a top rebuilt ( that I know of so far ).

Although I might upgrade to a better outdrive (need to research outdrive upgrade), how can I do to prep the outdrive for long term storage off the boat? The milky oil has been drained.

Refill it with Oil,+ store it standing up,........

Preferably under cover,+ on a stand......

I don't have a manual for the drive yet. What kind of oil can I use while stored?

Any oil will keep it from Rusting...............
