I cant seem to find a water pump for my 1964 Johnson 60hp,I even looked on where it says Johnson parts.I see water pump housing or water pump kits. Can anyone tell me where and how much for the water pump for my motor?I was told I will need one before I take it out on the water. And also I was wondering does my motor have a thermostat?and do I even really need it now?Thankyou in advance for any and all your expertise.

The complete water pump assembly is part number 379776.

The thermostat (vernatherm) is inside that flat plastic housing that the hoses attach to which lead from the cylinder heads. The part number is 377276.

If you want the complete water pump, you have to get it from a Johnson or Evinrude dealer. If you just want the impeller, that part number is 377992. Sierra 18-3005. you can get thet here at iboats or maybe your o-reilly guy.

I have no idea who O'RIELLY Auto part store is. Those 379776 water pump assemblies are usually available at the NAPA stores. And it appear to still be available at your local dealership.

Joe's number is the OMC/BRP johnson number for the complete kit. FR's is the sierra number for just the impeller. ishopmarine.com and laingsoutboards.com also has them.

Re: Needing a water pump?

379776 doesn't crossover to a Sierra number. Sierra has a website at "http://ww2.sierramarine.com/sierra/catalog/inter2.asp" Don't use the " marks.
