Marnier two questions??

The first question --- and I am sure its been answered many many time but what is the oil mix for at 8 Hp Mariner Motor 1987 year model? I have mixed emotions fom what i have Read I think it may be 50 to 1 but not sure.

Never figured out why outboard motors never had the oil mix stamped on the case.


Question two ----- The fuel filter on my motor is leaking around the edge of the plastic filter which is a screw on type plastic filter. I think there was a rubber seal at one time for the seal but it s lost. Can a person just use any type of car gas filter or do you have to have a specials filter such as the one that is on the Motor now?

Any help on this would be apprecited.

50 to 1 mix why not go to a dealer and buy a gasket or order on line

Thank you. Feel better on the oil mix now.

The gasket and the new filter would be the way to go. However Living where I do in Lassen county it would take a month on Sunday to get one. The area only has one small boat shop and they don't carry them in stock. Actully all i need is the gssket but I was told I would have to buy the whole filter. The big Kicker is we are headed to Oregon tomorrow Sept 5th and really don't have the tiem to get one ordered. That was ther reason I wanted to know if I could get by Temp. with a car gas filter?
