I believe these are two separate issues...

First, The tach recently died and I have noticed the charging of the battery is gone as well. I have read the forum to realize I have an issue with the rectifier/regulator but here is the question. I don't have a service manual to obtain a P/N for what I need? I looked on www.mercurypartsexpress.com but cannot find a rectifier for my engine, I do see the voltage regulator (88825A 7 @ 164.92) Is this what I need? I called a local dealer and he states there is a separate rectifier (816770T @ 45.64) on my engine. How would I confirm this without looking at the boat. I store it hours away and wanted to bring the correct parts with me next trip. Can some verify or confirm this for me?

Also, The engine consistently has a hard time starting after sitting for a week or more if and only if the tank is not full. The engine seems to struggle to get gas. It will eventually fire up but seems to always be flooded with oil at that time? It is obviously an oil injected engine. Any thoughts on where to start the investigation? The bulb always seems to prime OK full tank or not. Just takes significantly longer to fire. Like a difference of 5 seconds vs 30 seconds. Very consistently

Any help would be appreciated

Unfortunately the 1990 175HP engines came with either a 16 or 40 amp alternator and so use different rectifier/regulators, I will link you with both types you will have to chose. First the 16 amp system http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show...bnbr=50&bdesc=WIRING+HARNESS/STARTER+SOLENOID
This is the 40 amp system
http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show...bnbr=40&bdesc=IGNITION+COIL/VOLTAGE+REGULATOR
Heres are flywheels for both systems you will have to reference them in the listings

As far as the pump thats a different problem and makes me wonder about the primer bulb, the bulb should develop more pressure than the fuel pump but in this case it seems as if the fuel pump has to developer additional pressure after the bulb has been used

Re: 1990-175hp Tach/Charging & fuel Pump? Issue

Thanks Laddies....Can I determine the amp version from my S/N? or just wait to view the engine? Do you know where the rectifier or the voltage regulator are located in my engine?

Also, I replaced the primer bulb a year ago with no change in the result, the same issue remains...

Thanks
