I sheared the flywheel key on my 93 johnson 50 by not tightening the flywheel properly. Is it a standard woodruf key or does it have a taper?

Re: Flywheel key

you need the OEM part, or it will shear again. go to brp-johnson literature, engine diagrams, and get the part #. the shaft and wheel has to be clean and free of oil, when installing.

Re: Flywheel key

If I were a gambling man, I would bet that it is a special size. Haven't seen standard size woodruff keys in Johnrudes for a very long time, unless they have started recently...which I seriously doubt.
