Do you feel it's as good or better than Merc Hi-Performance? I have lots of automotive outlets local to me but nearest Merc dealer is 20+ miles.

Re: high performance gear lube

A Full Synthetic Oil is a Ful-Syn Oil......

Merc Hi-Per is a Ful-Syn oil......... So is Mobil 1.....

Other than the Color,...... I see No Differences......

And,....
I Do Know that Mobil 1 will hold Alot of Water,+ yet still provide Excellent Lubricating properties......

can I mix mobile one oil and high performance. I was told not to mix with the premium and high performance. but does that apply to the mobile one oil and high performance gear lube.

We're only talking about a Qt.,+ 1/2 or so.......

I'd drain it,+ Fill it with the Oil of your choice,..........
Rather than Mixing any oils....

Re: high performance gear lube

my merc rep told me the merc HP lube is a semi-synthetic. forms mud at the bottom of the resevoir as the anti-wear additives settle out, the resevoir needs cleaning at least once a year or it clogs.
if this is a new application adding a few ounces is normal, if its over 20 hours its NOT normal.
dunno about mixing them, I just plan ahead and have the syuff on hand when its time.
I normally tend to use what the book calls for or what the book says the equivalent is.ie:GL-5,GL-4 so on so on.
the volvo GL5 and the mobil GL-5 are compatable, most likly refined by mobil anyway at half the cost.
these oils all have SAE specs. as long as its in the correct spec its ok.
but to answer your compatibility question? beats me. never tried it. the bravo's and the VP's both use a cone type clutch so I dunno.
