1988 Johnson 60HP. Switched to XD-50 and I must say that the motor ran much better than with XD-30. It idled smoother and ran smoother, and smoked significantly less (pre-mix). Also started faster than it has in the year Ive owned the motor.

Would the XD-100 be suitable in this motor??

Re: Switched to XD-50 from XD-30

The XD50 has the carbon guard additive. A nice feature. Great oil. The XD100 is designed for the new Etech engines. The computer on the Etechs can be reprogrammed for the XD100. The engine then will consume almost half the oil than the basic VRO oil program calls for. You should be able to run the XD100 fine at 50-1, the only issue is that it is nearly twice as expensive as XD50. It really only makes economic sense in an Etech.

Re: Switched to XD-50 from XD-30

Is XD-100 a TCW-3 certified oil??

Would it likely provide better protection than XD-50 oil??

Thanks.
