Recently my 01 ocean pro 150 has been rumbling/vibrating really loud. The motor itself seems fine. I thought it was the lower unit. However, the dealer thinks its some automatic sensor thing. Anybody experience or konw anything about this?

That's not much to go on. What did your dealer check? Describe a "sensor thing".

Have you changed props? Run aground? Any rpm worse than other? In gear or doesn't matter?

Sorry for being so vague. I t only rumbles in gear. Cant tell on the RPM.s because the gauge recently broke. The mechanic said that I should shut the motor off for one minute and restart. He said that would reset the motor (or sensor thing). I have not run aground. However, the boat did wash ashore on sand with the outboard lowered while anchored.

Did this start after it washed ashore?

Get the tach fixed! It's possible that the regulator / rectifier shorted out. While it's not imparative for the tach to work, for the moment, if the reg/rec did short out the wiring may be in danger of catching on fire. Let's get that looked at before we have a real mess.

Got the boat back from the shop. Mechanic said motor was experiencing S.L.O.W. No work was done. Nothing was replaced or repaired. Is this normal? Seems to me something sould have been done.

If it goes into SLOW (speed limit overheat warning) the horn will sound and the rpm will be limited to about 2800.

He also said the motor was fine. Should there have been any sensor replacement? Is SLOW a normal occurence?

its normal if your overheating! so that you cannot blow it up wide open while hot.

Exactly, that's what it's for. Was it going into SLOW? Or just vibrating?

It was vibrating loudly while traveling at approx 23-28 mph. I powered down out of concern. Didnt notice any lack of power. The SLOW issue has me concerned. I'm not convinced thats the issue. If overheating is the problem, whats causing it?

Re: 01 Ocean Pro Vibrating

Again, it's best to tell us -so we can help with accurate information - is it going into SLOW or not? If it goes into SLOW the motor won't go past 2800 or so. It'll run smooth up to that point but will miss terribly at that rpm and will not go faster. And the hot horn will be going off. And if you have System Check gauges the "Check Engine" light should be on.

Is this what's happening? Or is it just vibrating but will go past 2800? Is the horn sounding?

I have system check. No horn sounds. It will accelerate. I appreciate your patience with me. I just dont think that the SLOW diagnosis is the problem.

Re: 01 Ocean Pro Vibrating

OK, if it's not going into SLOW then we need to look at a couple things. How's the prop? Dings, dents, chuncks missing?

If it's OK then pull the prop off and look inside the bearing carrier. You'll see a bolt at the top and one at the bottom. Make sure those are not loose.
