I have a johnson tn 26 will only fire at low speed . It will start at full speed and run for 10 to 15 sec then die . Then will not start for 15 min does pump water
sounds like coils is heating up and failing. remove the recoil, and inspection cover on the flywheel and look at the coils, discolored, cracked, replace.
i really hate to send someone to another forum. but you best advice, is at AOMIC antique outboard motor club. don't ask how much it is worth there, not allowed, but they have a better knowledge on the pre 1955 motors.
On those little tn26 if the plate has any wobble to it at all when it starts to rise in the rpm's it will sling the points out of gap and cause it to die also.
Simple little motors and almost bullet proof.
