What prop?

I have a 1998 5.0 hooked to my 1988 alpha one drive. Boat is a 19' Chaparral bow rider that weighs 2900 lbs empty. I have a 14.5"x19p on it now. Wide open is only 4000 rpm. Was wondering what prop I should go to? Should I stay the same Diameter on a 17p or should I go smaller diameter in a 17p. My hole shot right now is not too bad and speed is at 42 mph. Any ideas?

Re: What prop?

It'll be OK to stay with 14 1/2" diameter or go to the more common 14 1/4" in a 17 pitch. That should put you at about 4400 or so. Depending on what design 19 you have now.

Re: What prop?

That depends on what style 17" prop you get. It could go either way as far as the top end goes but generally speaking the holeshot should be better.
