Help

This is my first merc...is the cooling system working properly? When first started, in a flushing mode, it dribbles from the head for about 15 seconds, then shoots a strong stream, then dribbles, streams, etc. After running for a while, it turns into somewhat of a steady flow. Service records indicate it had an impeller installed two years ago.

It is used in salt water. Is there a thermostat that might be operating irratically? Is this normal or other ideas?

What your seeing is the thermostat opening and closing so engines it is quite pronounced but the stat could be sticking or the slit that is suppose to let water bypass could be partially plugged
