Re: Sunday Beer??

I used to understand that quite well, LT

I hope it's all right if I answer this now,
Saturday night used to be a little busier at the local liquor stores.
Almost all of Kansas used to prohibit liquor sales on Sunday, (State Law) but once a few municipalities started creating their own laws, Sunday $ale$ spread like a Kansas prairie fire!

(I also found it in the original post)

Thank you all for playing.:) For those that found the answer congrats to you.

In a yes or no answer do you think you know specifically what the title of this thread refers to?? My correct answer will be posted on Monday. BTW the answer is posted here IF you can find it, if you do please keep it to yourself. Thank you in advance for your honesty.
Sunday beer is beer purchased Saturday night for consumption on Sunday in areas where Sunday beer sales are prohibited.

And Jeff, I live with the hope that the South will follow the lead set by Kansas, and 40 plus other ststes and someday pulls its self out of the 50's.:confused:

Arizona doesn't allow alcohol sales until noon on Sundays. When we are on the Colorado River, if we forget and pull up to a marina store on Sunday morning we just have to drive the boat across the river to a CA marina. Problem solved . . .

Yeah, LT... I hear ya. I don't know if all of Kansas allows alcohol sales on Sundays though. Sunday sales just recently started here in the K.C. metro area a few years ago. With all the bible beaters (God bless em ;) ) in central and western Kansas, I highly doubt you'll find a liquor store open on Sunday, west of Lawrence anyway. I have a buddy that owns a liquor store and he was elated when the local governments around here started passing Sunday $ale$! That's 4 or even 5 more days of income a month coming in now that the State used to deny the man?!?

It really isn't important to me. I go through about a 12-pack a week in the hottest months. By the end of summer, one 12-pack will last a couple weeks. Once it cools off I might only have a few beers a month at home. If I run out on Saturday, it's no big deal. I might not even buy any more until later the next week.

Well, I'm a big fan of freedom of choice. We used to have no beer/liquor sales on Sunday...probably 20 years ago. This led the way to legal 'off sales' over the counters in pubs then eventually to Sunday sales.
Now you can buy beer pretty much any time or place, if you want it.
The issue reminds me of the ol' days of no sunday shopping. Again, I'm a fan of freedom of choice on this issue although I rarely seek out Sundays as a buying target.

I'll bet the Callie marinas are BIG supporters of that law!

Re: Sunday Beer??

Reminds me of Scotland..........years ago they changed the no sales on a Sunday, to "a hotel, with bedroom(s) may sell alcohol on a Sunday".
That was all they wrote...........so when you next visit Scotland you'll find most of the pubs are called "The ------Hotel" and may only have one bedroom :D:D

Then they changed the law again, slightly, and said places could open on a Sunday and sell after 11am but had to shut in the afternoon.......only they didn't say when, or for how long! So I'm sat in a pub one afternoon and the shutters came down, no warning, nothing. Bit shocked. Then two minutes later the shutters opened again, and they started serving again, but in the eyes of the law at the time, they had shut in the afternoon :D

Law has changed further forward now, most places allowing drink sales throughout Sunday without any fancy restrictions (maybe they learned that a Scotsman will always find the loopholes where drinking is concerned? ;)

No liquior or wine on Sunday and beer is sold after noon on Sunday. Its funny to see the carry outs with no business until after church lets out and then there is a line.
