Ronsonol brand lighter fluid on a rag, works wonders on stuff like that. It's great for getting gum off clothes too, with no damage been using it for years for that. I think the main ingredients are benzene, & naptha.

Use some denatured alcohol prior to trying the acetone. If the alcohol doesn't work, you can try some mineral spirits (turpentine). If that fails, try and be careful with the acetone as it will disolve lots of stuff.

stainless steel pot scrubber will lift the adhesive. wet the spot good with wd-40, acetone, or whatever you have. don't lean into it like a burnt pot, nice and light and it will lift that gunk right off. you probably want to wax afterward no matter which methodyou use as all of these will have stripped the wax off.

After you remove as much of the sticker as possible, go to Lowes or Home Depot paint department and buy a quart of XYLENE. It is harmless to paint, gelcoat, and skin. It will not dissolve the sticky goo, but will loosen it so that with a very little elbow grease, you can rub it off. Keep the cloth wet with xylene while you rub the sticky area and wear vinyl gloves as a precaution and to keep your hands from smelling like solvent.

Wal-Mart has some sticker remover in the boating section called 'Sticker Off'. It works better than the old methods.

I use a product from a company named Celest, they make a Gum & Adhesive remover. But the "Sticker Off" from Wal-Mart is probably easier to find.

Elbow grease not required.....

3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner
Part No. 051135-08984

You don't have to use much and it will take all the adhesive off of the finish without damaging the suface. I recommend that you wash the entire surface after use just to make sure.

Good luck
