i have a 1985 140 hp meruicuser 4 cyl with alpha i outdrive purchased the service manual still dont understand water sysem it talkes of closed system which i think i have no radaitor cap but then they talk about antifrez and sea water systems my understanding i have a impeller in stern drive and circulating pump in motor my ? is this all one system that workes togather or two different things

First question
Look at your engine, and your manual (#10).
Look at page 6B-12 of your manual. Do you have the heat exchanger, and a thermostat housing with a "Radiator" cap on it?

didn't mean to sound like a sleppy head work construction 4am comes fast looked at manual and motor cant find heat exchanger no radaitor cap is this what the call closed system thanks

Then look at page 6A-9. If you don't have a heat exchanger or radiator cap, then you don't have a closed cooling system. You have a raw water (Sea Water) cooled system.

The manual covers both the closed cooling system and the seawater cooling system. Only read about the one you have, disregard the other one.

It would sure help if you used some punctuation and capitalization to make your posts a little easier to understand.

Checked out 6A-9 that is what i have makes sence now the seawater through me a curve. Sorry about my punctuation will do better . Sure do apprecaite your help .
