Boat pisser

Ive asked this quetion befor but im a little unsure if its normall for my motor or not
I have a 89 15 hp merc and when i start it i wait a bit and yhe pisser startd pissing then after awhile it stops and starts as it only does it when it needs coolent heres a pis of the schematic of the thermostate housing wich is right at the end of the off the pisser hose there doesent look like there is any way for water to get to the pisser than if th thermostate opens I just want to know if this is normal or not when the thermostate opens theres tons of water at the pisser but when it closes it jus trickls or none

the telltale should have a good stream of water coming out at all times not only somtimes.

I believe the normal would be whenever it is running to have water "pissing" from the boat's dinky.

This subject line bugs the hell out me..its a TELLTALE, or whatever, but "pisser" sucks..kinda crude..and childish replies worse

I cant beilieve the word pisser bothers you so much i m so sorry for offemding your preciose eyes but i didnt know the post was so horrific

I'm am grown up, and an adult, and this is the best forum on earth...treat us with a touch of respect for the free info we give out...

Most giving the info, call it a ( Pisser ) we could call it a lot worse when it isn't workin. :D

Think about it. Your thermostat is like a gate. When it gets hot, it pulls back and allows water to flow. You also must keep in mind that these thermostats a re critical since engines are designed to run at certain temperatures for optimum performance. If your motor isn't "pissing" it may not be warm enough to open the thermostat. When it is, it allows water to pass and cool the motor. As it does, the thermostat will cool and close. Newer motors will usually have a constant tell tale stream, but it shouldn't be abnormal for an older model year motor to have an irregular stream. Is it overheating?
