I know ads are necessary to support a free site but these new ads are way too much when they block half your page.

Or the newest one that hits me now is when I try and click on a place to go at the top the Allstate add keeps dropping down and blocking me from clicking on where I want to go.

If the goal of these ads are to be annoying you have succeeded.

But you have also succeeded in my NEVER buying any Allstate insurance products.

Just my opinion as a consumer!

Do not see them. I use Firefox with AdBlock Plus (and extension) installed and I never see ads on any site.

Wow- thanks for the tip! I just installed Adblock, and it works great. Another reason I love this site so much- I have learned things about so many areas. Thanks guys and gals.

If you download the FiltersetG Updater also it will update Adblock automatically.

I've found the problem with these "free" programs is nothings really free . . .

They track where you've been and sell your email address to other spammers.

The ad block programs I've used in the past also slow my computer down especially when booting up as they are always running in the background.

Some sneak on other programs at the same time . . . Anyone remember the GATOR days? That crocs probably still around but under a diiferent name. Once that sucker was on your computer you can't get it off.

I finally had to do a restore and now I run it with as few programs as I can.

Now my new beef is when they ask you to update a current program. It can change your configurations files and it took me an hour last week to get by the windows screen. Only going back to an earlier restore point saved me.

I know you can answer no to the update but then sometimes you can't use the program for certain things if you don't update . . . Can't win!

Same here, invest in a good firewall.

Yep, I remember Gator. But I have been using Adblock Plus with FiltersetG for a couple of years now with no problem. It is an Open Source program (actually an extension for Firefox). Flash collects more data than it does...............

Adblock plus is the greatest. And AllState sucks. Their "roadside assistance" left me and my pregant wife stranded when our truck overheated on our way to work after a big snowstorm. Apparently if it's a day when a bunch of people need to be towed you're on your own. I dumped them the same day for USAA.

Re: Anyone else finding these new Allstate adds Annoying ?

somebody cut my catalytic converter off and i called Allstate to file the claim for the THEFT!!.. the lady on the phone kept asking me questions like

- was anyone hurt
- were paramedics called to the seen
- do you know who did it
- are there any witnesses

I kept saying LADY IT WASN'T A COLLISION it was a THEFT!

So then its on to getting it fixed. She tells me I can take it to an Allstate repair shop or wait up to 5 days for a claims adjuster to come out and look at the car. I say whats to look at! They cut the thing out its as simple as that can't I just take it to a Midas or Mienekie (sp?) shop and send you the bill! She says you can but we might not pay for it...

So I ask her for the location of the Allstate shops.. first she gives me one that is 90 miles away.. then when i say thats no good she gives me one that is 300+ miles away!!!

so i say screw this and contact my agent.. they say no no you can take it to this shop that is like 2 miles away and they can take care of it.. so that shop arranges to have my car towed to their location.. i give them a call and they are a body/collision repair shop.. so I ask em.. are you guys able to fix this kinda thing.. they say oh yes sure sure.. we will call ya back in like an hour with a cost and timeframe.. okay great..

get a call in an hour or so.. okay.. we towed it over to Midas!!! and they said it will be ready this afternoon and cost $300... (i have a $250 deductible)...

ridiculous.. go through all that and all they do is take the thing to same Midas shop I would have myself..
