I did a bunch or searches here but can't find anything. I need a reseal job but want someone good. First guy I went to was supposedly certified but wanted $600!

Anywhere on this forum is there ads for mechanics? any on the board here? Any recommendations? Thanks...

don s gives out great advice. but i would check out these dealers you find. the reason. is my butcher merc. dealer who destroyed my r+ r engine job. has no certiferd mechanic's..these guys were very bad..i worked for cadillac 10+ years not in mechanical, paint and custom tops. but get it in writing, how much $$ how long. ask are your guys certified. i went to another shop that was owner operator...$79 an hour but real quailty work..don take no offense but i chose the dealer because of the sign on the wall. now everyone that went their and goes thier has problems. this mistake i made ruined my summer. cost me aton of money and 2 zillion posts for help here...if i did my homework better. i would have spent my time on the water not the forum...
my 2 cents..also i wish i would have towed my boat to north or south jersey.

No offense taken. Yes there are bad/poor dealers out there, and unless customers contact Mercury and complain it will never change.

My links will give him a list of dealers in his area. He has to be the one to check them out and ask around. Just like any other buisness. Word of mouth from the local people is the best information. One other point. NO dealer has a 100% satisfaction rating from all their customers, not just in Merc dealer, but in any buisness. Someone, somewhere, sometime, will NOT be satisfied with what you do.

hi don i dont want to fuel the fire , but i contacted merury about the bad dealer. they could do not a thing they told me. i was hoping just a call to the dealer to put some preasure on him to fix it right...
but as you say. this dealer does not do things right the first time only to have to do it all over again. in my area , his name is not good..good idea to ask around
