Can't find part # for 79' 70hp evin fuel pump

I've even searched the web and still cannot find the fuel pump filter kit part number for my 1979 70 HP Evinrude. The boat motors model number is 70973R

The closest I found was for a Fuel Pump Kit for the following,
55 hp. - 75 hp. 1970 thru 1978 #18-7820
70,75 hp. 1982 thru 1984 #18-7820

It looks like Sierra 18-7353 Fuel Pump which is for 20-30 HP 1990-2000. It has gas-in line in the center cap (fuel screen), gas out line on the bottom left and it must be the vacuum line to the power block on the lower right.

0385784 is oem number
use the cross reference from sierra

The p/n JT gave you also crosses to 438559. Last time I looked these were available on maxrules, marineparts, go2marine and usavemarine sites for around $80.

Funny I think I just used one for parts myself for my 78 model 85hp that has a different pump, I was missing a spring and a spring cap out of mine. I was taking it apart for the first time and I thought only one part flew out of it but 2 ended up flying out of it. A man at a boat repair place gave me the 70hp pump and if I'm not mistake he still has the filter. The kit he ordered for me didn't include the springs or spring caps, just the gaskets and diaphram. Try the BRP catolog you can get to it online try this link http://epc.brp.com/default.aspx?brands=ej&lang=E if it works out it will take you to the fuel pump break down and parts number.

thanks for the input but so far I haven't found anything solid. The 0385784 # is the FUEL PUMP ASSY, but I haven't found a cross number for Seirra. The 438559 looks like it only has a in and out with no vacuum connection. BRP has no cross number, just a nearby dealer location, which is what I'll probably do.

I might be able to help if I can understand what you want.Your first post on this thread say you want a fuel pump filter kit.

I think the only filter on your engine is in the fuel pump,and you just clean it with carb cleaner.It's stainless steel.

Hi DHP, yeah I think it is. The manual titles it as a fuel pump filter. The filter is actual a screen that attaches on top, the rest is the fuel pump which is driven from the engine head compression. The fuel pump kit mainly has all the gaskets. You can separate the different layers of the fuel pump which will usually require new gaskets. There is the diaphragm in the fuel pump that can get a pin hair hole.

What I need is the fuel pump assembly kit, or the whole new pump, or the whole new fuel pump filter assembly. I hope this helps you help me .

The number for the complete fuel pump is 438559,about $75.00.

The 438559 is a three holer. It looks like a two holer in some pics and drawings cause the input line overlays one of the other fittings. You'll want to install it with the overlay of the fittings. I recently got one off ebay for $5.
