Hi all,
I have a 1995 EFI 150hp XRi and it bogs down when I go to hole shot or take off. I then bring the throttle back and ensure that I am trimmed all the way down and it bogs a bit then takes off and I am up on plane in no time. I have changed the fuel line with the pump ball and the fuel filter. Anyone have any idea's. I would like to fix it before I put it away for the winter.
Thanks
MT

This motor likes a vented prop if the boat is heavy. The holes in the propeller let some exhaust out at slow speed and causes the prop to cavitate enough so the engine can spin up to 3 grand or so. At speed, the exhaust is pulled out by the water flow and doesn't get into the prop blades at all.

Hole shot puts about the most strain on the ignition that it will see. High compression, high cylinder pressures, and relatively slow turning electrical generator parts. If it's weak anywhere, like a coil, wire, plug, etc, that's when it'll misfire.

hope it helps
