Nice work! Isn't it deceiving how much work there can be, especially when you look at the 'Craiglist' shot you started out from :)

Rode hard and put away wet comes to mind, but after all that work, I don't think you'll be letting dandelions take root ... How the hell do you break a distributor, unless you're REALLY trying ??

Great job, get out and enjoy it!

Really nice work. It came out great. Regarding your lost camera, ya think it might be under the floor somewhere? I know I have lost tools after putting up a wall, then pull the sheetrock off, and there is my 4ft level! LOL!

Re: My boat project

The distributor was broken in half when I got it. I had to weld a nut onto the bottom half to remove it. Not sure that it was ridden hard, because the engine and drive are in good shape. I think most of the damage was by leaving it outdoors in the rain. It now sleeps in the garage. Yea it was a lot of work, but in the end, worth it. I found my camera, it was in the house, that would suck if it was under the floor in the foam!

Have a great day,

Rob.

Nice job Rob. What's your ballpark cost for the total restoration?

Looks better then new, looks great. Don't you think they need to start an Overhauling show for boats like they had with Chip Foos (or whatever his name is on TLC).

Re: My boat project

To do the whole thing it probably cost me about $4,300 CDN. About 1500 for the floor, stringers, transom, resin, glass fabrics, vinyl for floor and all the wood. About 1500 for the upholstery, and about 1300 on the engine, bellows, timing belt, fuel pump, starter, alternator etc. The engine is original. If I were to sell it, I would have made about $5 per hour. Hardly worth it from that perspective. I know one thing, if I do get another boat, it will probably be a project as well. This way I know exactly what I have. No rott!!!!

Have a great day,

Rob.
