I have a Mercury 800 '82 trim unit that is leaking oil from the bottom of the unit, underneath the reservoir where the hydraulic lines connect. It drips when the motor is down, but when I try to tilt the motor up, it actually SPRAYS out. I am fairly sure the problem is a bad o-ring or gasket. The thing is, do i HAVE to buy the o-rings off the Merc website or will any appropriatley sized o-rings from NAPA or Advance work?
It looks to be an easy repair, and I want to go out this weekend if possible so I don't want to drive 50 miles to the nearest Merc dealer for 1.99 o-rings.

Oil leaking from here.

So ordinary ones from Napa couldn't withstand the pressure or something?

If NAPA listed it for hydraulic use at 3000 lbs. no problem if your store will ck their marine catalog they probably can get OEM replacement
