Which engine to choose?

Hi everybody!

Being new to this forum I would like to start of by asking all of you for your input!

We are a new boat distibutor somewhere in Europe and we have just received our first batch of 5,2m and 5,8m RIB boats. The boats are custom made but uses a "standard" semi V shaped hull and is certified for 90bhp engines.

We would like to opt for a japanese brand engine as they are well known for their quality and durability but would like to make a decision based on end user experience.
We have narrowed it down to Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha without any reason for that other than that the brands are well established in our market.

We would be happy for ANY input YOU might have abour any of these engines or brands. Which is best - and why? Which one would you prefer? Is the obvious choice 2 stroke or 4 stroke?

Thank you!

Those are all excellent engines at 90HP, TES. I couldn't say any one is more desirable than the others.

I agree, they are all state of the art outboards. Suzuki no longer makes the 2 strokes here in the USA. I prefer the Suzuki based on my owning them for the past 20years.

my experience is that suzuki tends to corrode faster in saltwater and at least here in the US is a pain to get any warrenty work.
dont know about anything other than US markets.
the yamaha EFI 90 4 stroke is solid as is the carbed 2 stroke.
my 175 Etec is amazing so far as well.

The support network of parts and service should be uppermost in your decision. How is Tohatsu support in your area? They also make good engines and they make and have made engines for other companies.
