I dont think it has an oil tank on the side. I looks like im buying a boat on Wednesday but i forgot to ask the guy.
I know my 86 merc 150 has a separate tank from the engine for oil. The 87 merc 115 is the old six in line type that im looking at.

In 87 the 115s came with the Auto Lube system, it was junk and most people removed the to save the engines it was a cannister that was in the back close to the fuel tanks that was filled with oil so if it's not there it was removed by the previous owners
