This past weekend my wife and I went to a movie. We decided to watch "The Kingdom" starring Jamie Fox and several other actors you will recognize. I would not describe the film as an action movie, however it does contain allot of it. The trouble I have with "action movies" is most of them are not very smart and concentrate on action rather than story. I generally leave them to my 16 year old son who enjoys them very much. "The Kingdom" is more mature. Definitely not a simple shoot-em-up movie.
Without giving it away, Jamie Fox plays an FBI agent leading an anti-terrorist unit investigating a terrorist act in Saudi-Arabia. I found the story very believable and very strong. Edit the political wording out, sorry.
The film was not a brainless over patriotic piece either. It told what was presented as the truth of the story without a political slant in my view. It is a powerful story that makes you remember why the middle east must be stabilized. And it removes all denial about the truth of middle eastern terrorism by putting its effects in personal terms. It will make you think, Edit more political words.
In all a very good film, one I recommend.
