ok here we go , went to the boat today one big mistake i make was not taking a test light with me,

first i put a big screw driver on the damper and turn the engine real easy.

i get no keys with the boat so i bought a new key switch and install it.

when i try crank the engine i got nothing, not even a click.

now i head down to the slave solenoid and jump it with my screw driver, now the engine turn over.

as i said i did not have my test light with me so i just leave it at that,

will post my find after fishing around in the morn.

You aren't going to change any bearings with the engine in the boat. If they are bad, there is probably going to be crank damage and probably metal shavings that will have to be cleaned out.
If a freeze plug popped out, it probably froze, and may have cracked the block. Did you check the oil to see if it was milky or way over full?
Over full could also make the lifters rattle.

yea dons thanks i konw i would have to pull the engine, this is my final up date, i install one freezer plug portside rear, start the engine only to find out starboard engine lost a freezer plug also, install that one too.

start the engine runs fine no real miss only the knocking from the bottom not the top.

now don if you was in my shoes with money kinda low right now. i know a few guys in my area who can install new bearing ect .

what else should they cut /change to do a perfect job .

i run the engine for a long while, no milky oil. no high oil level on the dip stick, the oil guage still hold good preasure,

is this a big job how much a job like this should cost??
please walk me through. the engine was a new reman. thanks

Let me put it this way. If it blew 2 core plugs out of it from freezing, and is also knocking, I wouldn't waste any time or money on it at all. It will require a complete disassembly and inspection to find ALL the problems.
Yes, it's a big, expensive, job. It's called an engine rebuild, and if done improperly will blow up again, and again, till it's done right.

If the boat fell into your lap fairly cheep then why mess with rebuildign an old motor or 2.

Just buy new motors or rebuilt motors complete. I would.

It would be a lot less work and time consumed right? Granted winter is comming so maby rebuilding a motor fo rnext season is a cool project if you know what your doing I guess.

I dont think the dude is drunk I thinks maby bad english LOL....:D

Perfect English is not a requirement to fix a boat, or ask a question on these forums. As long as the idea is conveyed.

Wait till you see a 200 word question in one word...............No spaces, puctuation, capitalization or anything.......... That, is a problem.

very true.... but i will say that VERY GOOD english is required to understand half of the service manuals out there!!!
Except for VP.... and especially the older ones... then in that scenario bad english is your better bet.

Note:from VP service manual.
step 1. dissasemble double bearing box.
step 2. remove gearset.
step 3. this may be very difficult.

i've actually seen lines similar to this in older vp manuals..

4, using a suitable tool
5,tap with rawhide mallet.
:) jinglish is about as good as swinglish :)
if ya really really want a laugh look up the VP method to set the bearing preload on the intermediate housing for a jack shafted swedish drive. now that is truly funny,.
but back to the issue.
if it popped 2 core plugs odds are high its cracked exhast manifolds, risers and any oil coolers.
I get 4 or 5 craked engines every spring as it doesnt get cold enough to freeze here :).

its a amazing, you post for some good info, and guy who have nothing positive to the subject , just keep posting trying to be funny. i will say yes some times i just tipe and dont go over it befor i post, but what the heck yall understant what i am getting at.

thanks again don. i will be getting a long block from rapido . just dont want to mess with that old knocking engine.

from what i was told the guy who owns the boat before, install a new reman took it out, and it start knocking, all the parts look great like new, so when i get the rapido engine i will just start stripping .
