What kind of boat is this?

Hello,

I purchased a house 2 years ago, and with it came this boat. It seems to have been sitting in the backyard for a long time. I know nothing about boats. I restore homes, so I have an affection for saving old things. I am not sure who made it or what year (or decade) it might be. I have no papers. The hull is made of wood and is about the only part in good condition.
I would like to donate it to someone who can save her. If it can be saved.
Any information will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks You!

There were a lot of nice wood lapstrake hulls around in the old days, could be an OldTown,Lyman or any one of several more that were popular back then.
Nothing like a well kept wooden hull to look at and be seen in,they handled very well in the water.Ron G

Yes, Old Town, Lyman, Thompson or Penn Yan.

Looks like Thompson to me.

My family owned one very similar. Ours was a 20 foot Thompson with a cuddy cabin. The hull looks similar.

Is there anything on the gauges - name? In any case do you have any plans for her?

Looks like a Thompson to me, too.

All that gorgeous mahogany must appeal to someone.

Re: What kind of boat is this?

I?d like to thank everyone for their input. I?ve learned a lot this past week! I did email Starcracft and they also think it?s a Thompson.

Gcboat? thanks again for the suggestion to look at the gauges?. as for any future plans I would still like to donate it to someone or an organization who could repair it.

Bond-o ?. A few months ago I thought of using my tools to take it apart and junk it, but it s just not an option anymore, I?ve strangely become attached to it! I don?t want it to get in worse shape just sitting there until the day comes I have the ability or extra cash to fix it. It certainly is a big project, its just something I can?t take on right now, I?d rather have someone who knows what they?re doing just take it and enjoy it; now before its too late.

I really didn?t think anyone would be interested in even looking at it, but I did have some people who were interested, unfortunately it is a big project (and boat at 22?). So I have one more man coming to take a look. If he can?t take it then I?ll have to advertise it again.

Again, I?d like to thank everyone for their good advice!
