I was wondering if anyone ever just replaced the carbs instead of rebuilding. They are available and are around about 150 each. Really i thought they would cost more. If i were to take it to the shop to rebuild them it would cost me more than 300 i think. I just wonder if when you buy the "CARBURETOR ASY" from them, what is included? Just a thought. 115etlj is my model.

You are mistaken about the price of the carbs. There are two different carburetors, an upper carb and a lower carb. The part number for the upper carb is 6E5-14301-10-00 and the lower one is 6E5-14302-10-00. The list price for the carb is $242.55. The discount price is $189.20. You have a 1986 engine so it might be a smart thing to install new ones.

beats me, if the needles are not leaking just buy bowl gaskets and clean what you have.
its not like they usually "wear" out.
but you do as you wish:) its your money.
any tech that spends over 1.5 hours on a V-4 carb job is suspect. usually an hour is sufficient.

Rodbolt is absolutely right. As I recall there is a carb repair kit that is also available - gaskets, o-rings etc. If you don't mind spending the money get new carbs. If it were my personal motor I would rebuild the carbs first.

There are two different carburetor repair kits listed. One is 6E5-W0093-06-00 and the other is 6E5-W0093-10-00. Call up Yamaha Customer Service at 866-894-1626 and they will tell you which one you need. Mare sure you have the complete model number and the numbers from the serial number plate. They are very helpful.
