Hi Team.

Donk 1: A-J110TXCEM 25" leg Johnson 110P 2-stroke 1989.
Donk 2: B- J115TLERC 19" leg Johnson 115HP 2-stroke 1994.

I currently have donk 1 on my boat and thinking of buying donk 2 for this same boat (transom 25") because I think my donk is stfd.

AS you see, I am unable to simply change over motors with leg.

Q1: Does donk 1 powerhead have exactly same footpint as donk 2?
Q2: What is involved wiht chaning over powerheads on donk 1?
Q3: What is the better option - change legs or change powerheads.
Q4: Do both donk have exact same carbi setup/parts?
Q5: Dumb question but here goes - what difference in donk 2 construction would produce the 5HP difference?

Re: Changing Powerheads

i personally think you need to find out what is wrong with your current motor, before trying to take apart 2 motors, to build one. you may be, putting the bad parts on the new combo.

Re: Changing Powerheads

THansk Dad. I agree.

I am located in a small isolated mining town with very minimal marine resource specialist. I am unable to get this donk proffessionally inspected because there is no one really. I knwo the standard resposne may be ditch it and spend $20k (new donk + freight). But who has a spare $20k lying around...

I am caught really.

I have replaced all I can - new water pump mit, t-stats, poppets, poppet springs, removed and inspected heads and water jackets. I have measured compression and changed plugs.

What else is there to investigate? Your help has been grand thus far!

Anyway, are you able to assist with those questions listed in previosu post?

What are the symptoms of the problems with d-1 & d-2?

Re: Changing Powerheads

THanks SOlittle.

DOnk 1 is overheating with no solid causes.

Donk 2 does not have any issues - just thinking about a straight swap of powerheads...

What is involved in changing powerheads?

THoughts?
