Right turn on Red update

Awhile back I had posted about a bud of mine that got a ticket for making a right turn on red. The intersection had a sign posted "Right On Red except during school days".

It was during the summer in which school was out. His citation was dissmissed because there wasn't any school in session.

I happened to go through that intersection last Friday. Now there is a nice new sign saying "Right on Red except WORK Days".

Good thing I pay attention to those signs. One of our cities best was behind me and tooted his horn for me to go. I rolled my window down and pointed up at the new sign. Then he gave me a thumbs up after he saw the new sign. I'm going to be curious on how many get nabbed this coming school vacation.

Everyday is a work day.....
Still vague.......
Someone needs to find another 'work' if that was the best they could come up with......

Ayuh,.......

Maybe "Week day", or "Except Mon- Fri.", or Something.......
Or even "No turn on Red"..............

"Work day" or "School day" are nothing but backdoor Revenue Enhancement tools......

It bugs me when people want to turn right who are behind me when I plan to go straight. they put on their turn signals and seem to act like that I shouldnt be in that lane if going straight.

Yep, know what you mean. In this town it varies from intersection to the next. Ones will have straight with the left turn lane and about half the others are opposite. Makes it real hard for out-of-towners to know where to go. Then there are those who take up both lanes that really confuse the other motorists.

My guess is that "Workday" is based on a business or government workday. I agree that it should have been "Weekday", but that would too easy for everyone to understand.

No turn on red 'cept for weekends and holidays would be much clearer than "work day".

All my years on the other side of the pond have conditioned me to stop for a red light even when I want to turn right. It really upsets drivers behind me.

Needs to be more specific to be fully effective.
