boat storage for winter

Hi
Im about to park the boat up for the winter and im just wondering if there are any good measures to take for the engine,i.e de-salination etc ,should i disconnect the marine battery?

The motor and boat should be winterized prior to storing it for any long period of time. Heres the minimum you should do: Flush with freshwater if it's used in salt
Put stabilizer in the gas and run it through the engine or run all of the gas out of the engine. Change the lower unit gear lube and remove the prop and grease the prop shaft. Hit all of the grease zerks with a couple pumps of marine grease. Disconnect battery, charge, and store inside if possible. Fog the engine with fogging oil. This is just the basics, I'm sure others will chime in.
