Hi - I'm new to the forum and would be very grateful for any help offered.
I have a new boat, a Quicksilver Pilothouse 500 weighing 680kg.
You can see it at
http://www.brunswickmarineemea.eu/products/single/2007$$$ENEN-$-BO$QSFIB$FPILOTHOUSE$500FPIL
& it came with a 60 hp 4 stroke Bigfoot. I only get about 18kts top speed but was expecting about 25. The bottom was clean and the sea calm.
The prop is a 10.25 ins dia. x 14 ins pitch. I downloaded a prop calculator program which suggests a 12.9 x 14.3 is needed. I have no rev counter at present so don't know the actual WOT but the manual says 6000. I have tried altering the trim to no effect.

Does anyone else run this boat/engine and if so what prop/performance do they see?

Many thanks

Re: Mariner 60 EFI Bigfoot prop

Nice boat!! 10-1/4 inch diameter props are typically used on non-Big Foot motors due to the different gear ratio (1.83 vs 2.33 on the Big Foot). Big Foot motors are also typically used on pontoon boats and in that type of service, 14-inch props are called for. I would say the advice you had is correct but you really need a rev counter (even a Tiny Tach) would help determine where in the rev band the engine is turning at wide open throttle.

Many thanks. Sorry for slow response but I have been offline. Contacted a Mariner Agent in the meantime and he said the same thing, "Fit a tacho first". So I'll do that and take it from there.
All the best.

The Big Foot leg on your 60HP engine is the same leg I have on my 75 HP Merc (2.33:1 gearset). I run a 13-1/4 x 19P prop. Any of the props for that engine (probably in the 17P range or less) should be what you are looking at. It all depends on what that engine performs on your boat.
