Re: What's this world coming to?
Because the law forbids them to work as either. I personally know one sex offender that used to be a teacher. Of course he isn't anymore. His offense was on the computer and had nothing to do with any of his students.
Yes, it is the teacher that offends, the priest that offends. If Mrs. Jones is my 6th grade math teacher and she takes me to her house and has sex with me, I am having sex with my teacher. She is my teacher on or off the schoolyard. That's a sick excuse, you can't separate teacher from human, they are one in the same. She is in a place of authority and she's abusing that power. That's sick.
So, did Mrs. Jones have sex with you because she is a teacher, or because she is a sick person? And don't give the both crap, otherwise I am sure you fit one of the categories given below.
Again, teachers do not commit the crime, people do. In other words, it is not the title that makes them do what they do. If that were the case....hmmm, I bet there are boaters, fisherman, hunters, police, medical doctors, lawyers, factory workers, cab drivers, window washers as well as people from every other part of society that has commited such crimes, that does not mean all with those particular titles do such bad things.
The law forbidding teachers from teaching after committing these crimes has nothing to do with statistics. I would be willing to bet, on the national average, teachers(former, if that makes you happy) make up less than 1/10 of a percent of the offender population. If I am correct, that would mean 99.9% or more comes from other areas of society. Quite often, it's a friend or relative of the family.
Anytime an adult offends a child it is an abuse of authority. Teachers are not the only people children see as figures of authority. From top to bottom, it is sick, not only when teachers do such things.
