Hello All,

New to the marine life, since I moved to FL and bought my 1st starter boat. I have a 14' Aero Glass with a Johnson 35hp(35el77h). I'm a complete novice and looking for recomendations, I'm not that happy with the current setup. I need a new control box as my gear shift cable has broken (I know have to manualy shift on the engine itself). The throttle also seems a little "quirky" which could be a few things, but I figured I would start with changing the control box out. What control box would be recomended? The current setup also is 1 battery(I keep a 2nd battery onboard though), but I would like to setup the boat if possible to run off of 2 batters and charge them via the alternator if that can be done?? If so how do I accomplish that? I would like to run my lights / live-well / GPS and not have to worry about changing around batters or having to remove 1 battery and charge in my home like I'm currently doing. Also propeller question?? I don't believe that I'm using the correct one or a better option is available any recomandations would be greatly appreaciated.

They have teleflex here on this site there good. as far as charging 2 batts. off motor it dosent push enough amprage to do it. as far as not having to take batt.out every time get a on board charge when you get in just plug in to exteneion cord and leave it till ready to go out again make sure to have a good quality deep cycle so you can recharge often I like the jell batterys they last longer and charge quicker. Oh welcome to the wonderful world of outboards

your motor is a 1977 35 hp OEM manual available here,"http://www.outboardbooks.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=models.main&year=1977&ID=52427

the control cables can be replaced. the controls are expensive to replaced.

as far as charging, that motor is not capable of keeping up with all the electronics, you are talking about. it was designed to maintain the starting battery.

get an extention cord and charge in the boat. charge upon return from outing, batteries last longer if recharged, rather than sit discharged. then top off night before next outing.

the prop: you need to know your wide open throttle rpms, in order to prop the boat correctly. also the motor height compared to the keel must be correct.

posting pictures would help. here's how, http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=224951
