Interlux tells me that Brightside paint can be left in the water for up to 72 hrs with out problems . Does anyone have any actual exp . with a boat painted with Brightside that was left in the water for longer period of time ? What was the effect on there paint when left in longer ? Thanks for the input , JJB

Re: Brightside Polyurethane Question

I guess you're speaking of the bottom of the boat? Never heard of paint not being able to withstand water for more than 72 hours - unless it is the bottom - . Most paint manufacturer's don't recommend total immersion of top side paint for a couple of reasons. The biggest being their control of the application process. The second being the composition of the material.
It's just not formulated for that purpose.
Anyhow, it will just start to peel off.

Re: Brightside Polyurethane Question

i painted my boat with the forementioned paint. i did not, however, use it on the bottom of the boat. but i did use it on the sides, part of which is in the water most of the time. now, mind you, i trailer my boat. it's only in the water on the weekends. i've used it all year and have not had any problems with the paint. it's just as clean and bright as the rest of the boat. plus i always wash my boat when i get it home. sometimes water leaves a film. so i do wash every time i come home from the weekend, my preferance.
