Wow....seems we have some people online this a.m.
. Rather "interactive" site we have here...lol. Excellent response time guys!! So...it's a 1974....and it's 85 hp, not 90..interesting. I'll tell ya....it runs strong...even with the manual choke I put on it (automotive style). Altho I'd like to retain the electric choke...we'll see ....hopefully the part is still available. I'm assuming these engines are durable...my father, back in the day, swore by Evinrude or "Rude's" as he affectionately called them. Any experience with the longevity and durability of these engines??? Any common problems?? And my last question is....I'm retiring my 17' Steury....it's seen better days and the transom is starting to crack a bit. Someone before me altered the transom a bit when installing a Teleflex steering cable. So now I'm transferring all the goodies to my new (new to me) 1988 Starcraft 19' Bowrider. It already has Teleflex, just no controls, which I have with my 'Rude 90 (er...'85 lol). I'm pretty sure this engine will have sufficient power and torque to scoot this 19' foot around. Your thoughts on this? Thanks again for the awesome response time and matching answers....you guys are GREAT!!
