I have a trolling motor and its not used often but everytime I go to use it the terminals have corrosion on them. What the best way to correct the problem.
In the past I've had problems with the motor and the plug that attaches to my boat. So everytime I use it I have to troubleshoot to figure out what is wrong the battery corrosion , connector, or motor. I've eleminated the plug with a brand new one. I would be great to apply something to the terminals so when I go to use the trolling motor it works.

Re: trolling motor issues

For years I've used ElectraGuard on all of my connections. I fish salt water exclusively and corrosion can be a real pain if not protected. The stuff is like a vaseline that is brown in color and you don't need much......just enough to thoroughly coat the exposed connections. I have read about other brands that probably do just as good a job.

Dielectric compound is made specifically for such applications but there's many products that can be substituted.

The criteria is, to stay soft, repel moisture, not attack rubber & plastics.

Common Vaseline, synthetic grease work well also.

I've seen lithium grease used but it does weep oil in time.
