Re: Tiller handle pulls to left
One more time and then we'll let it die. Accually the motor looks like new and runs like a top. If not for the left pull it would probably be on my boat as we speak. Thought I had a fastwin 18 located in KC a couple weeks ago but I turned out to be a 10 hp. I live out in the sticks and there are old boats and motors everywhere. I saw several 50s and early 60s Johnsons and Evinrudes today. Kinda like the old Harley in the barn except most are sitting outside just rotting away.
I saw this one today on ebay and got a good laugh; thought you might, too. It looks like I was wrong on your chrysler---look at how much this guy is wanting for this "jewel"--only 899 bucks (buy it now). HA HA HA!!!!
Not that I want you to get it but---if you're that interested, see if it has a trim tab on the cavitation plate that has a bolt on it. If so, then your problem is the trim tab has turned and moving it back to the correct position by loosening the bolt and making the alignment mark match up, then retightening the bolt would make it steer right. Then again, it may not have a trim tab, I've never taken a close look at a Chrysler. Like Tashasdaddy said, though, I would think it would be tough to get parts for it and I think before very long at all you would definitely need 'em. However, keep in mind that I am beyond "biased". I love OMC's!! Besides, I really don't know too much about Chrysler's other than what I've seen and heard over the years around the lakes and outboard mechanic's shops here. Their Force motors put the icing on the cake for me. Just my inexpert opinion, anyway.
Hope you find a good one,
JBJ
