Hi, I have a 1987 Regal 233xl. The trailer is original to the boat. I pull it on and off quite a bit. The bunks do make it hard to get the boat on. Has anyone ever converted a bunks to roller. The boat weights 4000 pounds.
There are four bunks. Two center, two out.
Thanks Roman

I put some plastic "slicks" on the bunks and the boat moves very easily.

The bunk slicks work great. If it were mine i would keep the bunk setup and not go to rollers..

Tied down properly front and back, where's it gonna go? Boat on trailer should be "one" unit without any movement during towing.

stay with the bunks rollers work great until one breaks and the shaft goes through the bottom, only put the slick pads on the forward part of the bunks where the boats hits when the trailer is backed down the ramp. that way the back of the boat will not slip while going down the road. or do what i do , get a bigger winch

You have to go by what the ramps are like, and if you are in a tidal area. Here the tide change is close to 7 feet from low to high and our local ramp is at a shallow angle, no way could you load or unload at low tide with a bunk trailer. Rollers do need more maintenance, but I have no issues even with salt water use, just grease em up with marine wheel bearing grease once a year. If you originally had bunks, I'd probably try the newer products that help the boat slide off because converting to rollers can be expensive.
