Re: Choke Question
If it only runs with full choke applied, it means that under normal conditions not enough fuel is getting to the carb. So: check fuel supply from tank to carb.
Also: a clue for you. If you see dripping gas: If it is very difficult to start and then runs well with choke applied when you finally are able to start it, check for a loose float bowl on the carb. With a loose bowl, you pump the primer and by the time you go to start the engine, the fuel leaks out of the bottom screw. Once you are able to start the engine, the fuel pump can supply only enough to compensate for the leak and very little more so the fuel level is low and the engine will only run with full choke applied.
Now this is not the only scenario. Anything that restricts fuel flow will cause the engine to run like this. You need to check all quick-connect fittings, the fuel pump diaphragm, and the strainer inside the fuel pump cover--take out the three screws holding the pump together and the strainer ( a cylindrical screen) will be visible inside the cover just inside where the fuel tubing connects on the outside. Remove the strainer and clean it or backflush it to clean it. Whic ever works for you.
