Located in the fuel line a short distance from the inline fuel filter..It has 2 wires on it and a little dial with an arrow. Its a small round like electrical part. I cant find it in the parts schematic.

May be a fuel pump or boost pump.tank side or engine side of the filter?

Re: What is this part?

May be a lot of things.
That's why I ask for a picture instead of guessing a million different things that could have dials, arrows, and wires.
He wants to know what it IS, not what it could possibly be.

Ok here we go again, rather than speculate, I'm just going to say what I would do. Pull the thing out and look at it, zap it with 12v and see what it does, maybe even just pull the fuel line off one end downstream and zap it.

Re: What is this part?

It's NOT an oem part, that's why you can't find it in any parts breakdowns.
Hard to say what it is without actually testing it as mentioned above.
Also, in that picture you can't tell exactly where it's attached to the fuel system on either end, so that doesn't help.
Does it click, buzz, or turn like a motor ????

Re: What is this part?

I'm 99% confident that's a solenoid valve. The next question is, what for?
With the engine idling, hold a screwdriver close to the button between the wires, is there some magnetism there?

FYI - your fuel pump is no longer in it's bracket.

Re: What is this part?

Umm, I'm noticing the wire leads away from the engine towards the helm. Hidden kill switch, but why a fuel cut-off, ignition would be easier and less noticable. Someone was maybe a little paraniod about that aftermarket electric fuel pump if thats what I see in the photo?

Re: What is this part?

I bought this boat brand new from searay so it was already there...I think I may give them a shout and see if they can tell me on the Phone. It was there when purchased New. Thanks anyway and yeah I gotta pop the fuel pump back in, Doesnt sit in there too well..Its not aftermarket either..Unless they did it...Actually its the fuel pump boost. Same thing I guess...When I find it out I will let everyone know. As far as its placement its in between the fuel tank and the Boost pump..The popped out thing...along with the inline fuel filter.

Re: What is this part?

this is the best i can get...it says PARKER SKINNER VALVE DIV.
VALVE #V5C72120
VOLTS 12V DC.......AND ON THE OTHER SIDE IT SAYS ELECTRIC FUEL VALVE.
THE DIAL YOU SEE HAS AN ARROW AND POINTS TO LEFT WHICH IS OFF..ON POSITION IS TO THE RIGHT. ITS ALWAYS BEEN IN THE OFF POSITION SINCE BUYING BOAT AND NO PROBLEMS.

Re: What is this part?

My guess (and like everyone else, it's just a guess) is the people at SR decided to have a fuel shutoff valve in the system. Who knows why.
The reason for the off/on position is it can be used as either a normally open valve or a normally closed.
For it to work in the off position, when the valve is not activated electrically, the fuel will not flow thru the valve.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What you have there are fuel pumps that were installed on 2640's after a heated debate between Mercury engineers and Robalo engineer's over powerhead failures on several boats.

The Merc folks maintained that the powerheads failed because the uphill climb of fuel to the motors created a fuel restriction "out of spec" with the motors capabilities. I always thought it was B.S. but we were a Brunswick company at the time and caved in to political pressure.

My suggestion would be to see the man at NAPA about two fresh replacements just in case they were right.

Thanks
