Hi JB,
That is correct. I would not use 50:1 in a '57 18hp, nor any of the 1950s non-t-statted motors... This is in addition to not using 50:1 mix in motors with plain bearings, etc...

FWIW, my '56 30hp is "fully jeweled" but like me, jewels of yesteryear aren't like jewels of today. I wouldn't dare use less that 24:1. If I did and I was wrong...replacement parts are too scarce and expensive.
