Re: Disappearing threads.

Threads that get too hot or run their course get locked and/or deleted.

Discussion of private practices in the bedroom are forbidden.

Bashing of any particular group is forbidden.

Personal attacks are forbidden. That includes moderators.

If you have questions, comments, complaints or suggestions about the management or moderation of the Board, please address them to iboats management by Email. This is not the place to debate them. Further posts on this subject will be deleted.

I let the bashing and insults go much too far on the gay marriage rights thread. I should have deleted it when I was asked to by the thread owner. My apologies for that.

Discussion of private practices in the bedroom are forbidden.
The very topic of gay rights IS about private practices that go on in the bedroom.

Just by the fact alone that someone tells someone else they are gay is telling that person what goes on in their bedroom. Once they publicly announce they are gay it is no longer private.

Why do they have to tell me they are gay??

I dont go around telling people I am a heterosexual.

They disrespect my views while demanding I respect theirs.

They cant have it both ways.

Bashing of any particular group is forbidden.
I dont believe I bashed anyone.

If anything I was stating I get bashed for my point of view by the "other side" while at the same time they tell me its wrong to bash them for their point of view.

Once again they cant have it both ways.

If they expect me to respect their views they are going to have to respect mine.

Re: Disappearing threads.

Well put Boatingfool, however, there some folks on the forum that get mean about some topics. I too wish that the subject could be further discussed; but not at the expense of anyones feelings being hurt, and not if people can't express their views without making personal attacks. Good call mods. We all need to be nicer to each other, even if we have hostile feelings regarding the topic of discussion. Maybe one day we will :) I am optimistic.

Love and hugs to you all :)

ya know, far be it from me to preach, but enough of the pot stirring. My God. this site and forum is here for marine enthusiasts.

You want to discuss issues/topics that are not related to this site make your own board at ezboards.com.

Awhile back chad??, a homo, tried to join this board, became militant due to members replies, and left. Ever consider that Iboats desires to sell product to whomever regardless of their personal lives???????

Geeze loueezzzeee???????

Pat,

Chads got hostile in response to being the recipient of much vitriolic hatred and bigoted homophobia. Dang, I feel sorry for the poor guy, it was just him plus one or two others against an onslaught of malevolence that was dang near biblical in proportion. I don't blame him for not wanting to be a part of a forum that showed the colors that this one did that day. I remember it well, it was in thread that I started  Maybe I'll never learn Pat, but I'm tryin' ;)

Re: Disappearing threads.

There were insults and bashing going both ways in the thread in question. Neither "side" is innocent. I tried to keep the discussion on whether gays have rights to the benefits of marriage, but I failed.

I neglected my duty by letting it go too long.

Again, my apologies.

Re: Disappearing threads.

man, i get a kick out of these. a few individuals get all spun up over a deleted or locked post. people just don't get it. you don't own these forums, you don't have any rights here, and if you don't like it, leave.

come on people, this is an internet bulletin board. if it's that important to you and things like this get you so upset, you may want to get some professional help.

Re: Disappearing threads.

Mattttt, who are you referring to?

JB, I don't think you "neglected your duty," How can it be "neglect" to expect better behavior. I mean, as I read through the thread, I actually was hoping/expecting at any moment for the posts to lighten up and for people to accept each other without such open hostility. I am surprised each time I encounter such anger here. I know there are some firecrackers in here, but dad blamed, do they have to be so mean?

At any rate, I for one don't think you were AWOL, or neglectful. I think it was really nice of you to give all parties involved so much opportunity to show a little personal dignity. Be well :)

Re: Disappearing threads.

JB

I don't think you let things go to far and I don't mind you deleting it. It was a debate, between differing points of views.

I think if I was to grade it I failed to persuade and I think I took some a shot or to that was alittle unfair. I don't care. Most people who participated are people that have differing perspectives on a lightening rod issue. Some may have felt that I was a abit direct. But it was a good discussion and now it is over.

You are/did fine. :)

Re: Disappearing threads.

yep Mat..this is Iboats board..and this board has provided valuable info to me regarding two old outb,...nope...make that three old outboards and two projy boats I am doing. And provided some great camaraderie and humor.

This thread will digress into another ***** session pointed at issues that do not relate to the nature and purpose of a marine board. I ain't no suck up to the mods, admin and so forth here as well.

Take a look at the nature of most topics posted here that are not marine related. Are some. Some are frivolous, silly, etc. I do believe that most are topics of discussion that would pop up at a dock or other social setting.

The homo issue for example is of a nature IMO that most kinda talk about in whispers or hushed conversation. Only on a board where animosity is assured will folks be as vocal as is displayed here.

Nuff said.

Re: Disappearing threads.

if'n u get upset because an off subject post get's
locked or deleted here, you really need to get a
hobby or something or just grow up!
crockodile tears, boo hoo... poor baby.
lot's of chat site's on the WWW that you can visit
where people act like idiots and call each other
names etc. behind the safety of their puter screen.
I have finally learned to stay away from "obvious"
trolls here after a year and a half. why? there
are never any winners, only losers. all it does is
divide people instead of bringing them together.
this is the opposite of what the true meaning of
boating/fishing is, which is to bring all kinds
of different people together.
M.Y.
