I am going to leave my boat in a slip but I want to flush out the salt water. Is there an easy way to do it thats easy on the wallet? How & where can I get it?
all you need is a pair of ear muffs.Reach down to your fully trailered drive and slip on the muffs with water at full pressure and run the motor .Make sure to have the water running before you start the motor and make sure you shut the motor before you shut the water.Thats what I do every time I use my boat.Very easy on the wallet.Takes a small amount of effort.Charlie
One option is the Perko Flushpro. It fits in the line between your outdrive and the raw water pump and closes off the salt water path while the hose is turned on.
Another option is the Volvo Neutra-Salt system which injects a solution when you shut down to neutralize the salt.
What size do I need? Does it hook up to one of the 2 hoses that hookup to the raw water impeller housing? Thats a heavy duty hose. Can you just splice it in with 2 clamps?
Is the perko sytem reliable? I would hate for it to fail and block the water from coming in. Most people w/merc engines in slips. Do you flush them or not? Salt Water
