Boat slips issues

Hello everyone

I am new to this forum as we just became proud owners of our first American Tug. :)
We have applied for a 70` slip and we have since then purchased Undine. She is a 34` tug.
My question is, has anyone had any problems with the state as to exactly what is suppose to be done first in regards to preparing the slip or buying the boat for the slip?
We are getting a huge run-around because the permit we applied for is for a 70` slip and the boat we just purchased is a 34`.
Any information or experience with this issue is more than welcome.
Thank you in advance!

Re: Boat slips issues

Hello
Thank you for your response.
We already have an existing dock and 2 smaller slips, one for our fishing boat and one for our pontoon.
This is a definite new slip, yes.
We have hired a firm to act as a middle man in regards to all of the red tape.
They do not seem to be satisfying our needs and that was why I decided to reach out and se if anyone has had similar experiences.

you are dealing with so many agencies, DNR, EPA, corp of engineers, etc. just tie off the the end or side of the dock for now, if you can.

Even the wealthy up here can not work around the rules (Billy Joel)

His main reason for wanting to leave Centre Island, the sources said, is his frustration over not being able to build a dock for his three boats. No new piers have been approved in decades because local officials arranged with the feds for the harbor to become a national wildlife refuge in the early 1970s to stop a proposed bridge from Bayville to Rye. As a result, Joel has kept his $2.5-million commuter yacht Vendetta, fishing boat Alexa and a pontoon landing craft across the harbor

Hey guys...

Jeesh...thats not good news. We are dealing with the DEP(department of environmental protection)

So far we lucked out and managed to gain a rental spot at a marina about 2 blocks from our home.

At $500.00 a month it would be nice to get this taken care of..the sooner the better! I can think of more necessary things to spend that cash on...gas being one of them

In any case all I can say is ...posiitive thinking will be my best defense and hope that we get lucky.

Thanks so much for your replies.

Have you seen his new doc in Sag Harbor? He finally made peace with the town and removed the rotten hulk of a dock and had a nice dock built. The town also replaced the old launch with an new one, and added a new dock on the opposite side from Joel. Nice to see people getting along. :D

Hey Tashasdaddy

I am in Daytona Beach...New Smyrna to be more exact.

Where might you be?

Hey Mark42

I totally ditto that comment. Life is way to short and there is way too much to endure to swim through negative channels! No play on words there :)

Nice to meet you both!
