Hi everyone. Now,I've had this Engine for 11 years and this is the first time that i have a problem. It started with a slight missfire after running it for a couple of hours, now it will just shut off.To make things worse,at this point it'll start on and off.I can't get a spark at all.I checked all wires and connections they all seem to be in order. When it does ,start up again it runs nothing ever happend.Where and how should I start to look for to pinpoint the problem.I have to add this engine has been well maintained with only 150 hours on it.Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Robert.

First, you have to determine if it actually is losing spark. Get a spark checker and check for spark when it won't start. Once verified, then go after the obvious. Check all the grounds including the ones for the coils and power pack Under the plastic cover on the back of the engine. When you are experiencing no spark, disconnect the red cannon plug at the engine, get a jumper wire and cross the small yellow connection on the starter solenoid with the battery positve connection ther to spin the starter and check for spark. If the spark returns, you have a bad key switch or bad lanyard switch.

If it does not return, then you have an engine ignition problem which could be a bad power pack, stator or a few other things.

if getting fire investigate the woodruff key in the flywheel, could have sheered. this will throw the timing off.

This engine has an OIS ignition system. The ignition runs off a small plastic timer plate on top of the crankshaft that has no mass what so ever. If that key were to shear, it would be the first I ever hear of.

Well,I went through all the steps you guys suggested.I disconnected the Engineharnes and jumped the motor right of the Battery.I still didn't get a spark. However, and I really don't know if this coincidence but when I disconnected the wires coming out of each head [right next to the spark plugs]it fired right up.With the Motor finally running I connected the harness again except the two from the heads.I turned the motor off.And on,it fired right up.Now , of course I like to know is that where my problem lies or is that just some freaky coincidence.I don't have a manual to identify those parts or there purpose. What do you think guys, what is should be my next step.

That is freaky. Those are temperature sensors. One wire is for the alarm, the other is for the computers' S.L.O.W. system (slows the engine down when there is an overheat situation). Try hooking one side up at a time and see if your spark goes away.
